Nominate a "Hoosier Hero," a current or former Indiana citizen who has inspired you, and have the chance to win a $2,000 postsecondary education scholarship. Your Heroes will also receive a $2,000 scholarship to designate to the Indiana high school of their choice.


National Vocabulary Championship
Game Show Network (GSN) presents the second annual National Vocabulary Championship (NVC) in association with The Princeton Review. Program awards over $100,000 in tuition and prizes and is open to high school students grades 9th through 12th, ages 13 to 19.


Intel Schools of Distinction
Intel honors U.S. schools that have demonstrated excellence in math and science education as Intel Schools of Distinction. One elementary, one middle, and one high school in each of two categories, math and science, receive $10,000 cash grants and more than $100,000 in products and services from sponsors.


Freida J. Riley Teacher Award
The Christopher Columbus Fellowship Foundation presents the Freida J. Riley Teacher Award to an American teacher who works with a physical disability, teaches in an especially challenging educational environment, or has performed a heroic act by making an exceptional, personal or physical

Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program
The Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship program seeks to encourage talented science, technology, engineering, and mathematics majors and professionals to become K-12 mathematics and science teachers. The program provides funds to institutions of higher education to support scholarships, stipends, and programs for students who commit to teaching in high-need K-12 school districts.


Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching
Each year, the President of the United States recognizes outstanding kindergarten-6th grade or 7th-12th grade mathematics and science teachers with the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST). The PAEMST program is administered by the National Science Foundation (NSF) on behalf of the White House. In 2008 the PAEMST program will receive applications from kindergarten through 6th grade mathematics and science teachers. In 2009 the PAEMST program will receive applications from 7th through 12th grade mathematics and science teachers. Nominations are due by March 1; applications are due May 1.


Woodrow Wilson Indiana Teaching Fellowship
Woodrow Wilson Indiana Teaching Fellowship recruits talented college graduates and midcareer professionals to teaching in science, technology, engineering, and math (the STEM fields). The WW Teaching Fellowship offers rigorous teaching preparation, extensive clinical experience, and ongoing mentoring, as well as a $30,000 stipend.
Applications are due by December 15, 2008.


STOP Hunger Scholarships
Sodexho is sponsoring $3,000 scholarships for any child in school (kindergarten through graduate school) who is doing great things to fight hunger and poverty in the US.


Teaching Tolerance - Grants for Teachers and Classrooms and Schools and Districts
Teaching Tolerance offers grants of up to $10,000 for programs that engage collaboration between educators, researchers, parents/guardians and student groups that aim to equalize students' experience in schools.


The Power of Children Awards: Making a Difference
Call for Nominations! The Power of Children Awards: Making a Difference is an annual event intended to honor and further empower middle and high school students (grades 6–11) who have made a significant impact on the lives of others, demonstrated selflessness and exhibited a commitment to service and the betterment of society.


Safe Schools - Healthy Students grant
Applications are now being accepted for the Safe Schools – Healthy Students grant, which supports community-wide efforts to create safe and drug-free school environments. Plans must address school safety, violence prevention, substance abuse prevention (including tobacco and alcohol), social supports for students, mental health services and early childhood programs. The deadline is March 14, 2008.


Summer Food Service Program for Children
Applications are being accepted for a program that supports
schools and community organizations that serve meals to low income children during the summer months. The Indiana Department of Education is facilitating the federal Summer Food Service Program for Children. This program reimburses local sponsors that serve healthy meals and snacks to children and teens in low-income communities during the summer months. The deadline is April 28, 2008


Carol M. White Physical Education Program
The Carol M. White Physical Education Program supports school districts, schools, youth agencies and faith-based organizations to start, expand or strengthen phys ed programs for K-12 students. The grant range is $100,000 to $500,000. Applications are due March 24, 2008.


Learn More Indiana Spokesperson Contest
Become the have the opportunity to be the next spokesperson for Learn More Indiana. Students in grades 6 to 12 should submit their ideas for a commercial telling other students the steps it takes to get to college. Entries must be received by March 24, 2008.


MAC Grant program
McDonald's Restaurants announces the 2008 MAC Grant program, which provides up to $500 to middle school teachers for interesting and educational projects for sixth, seventh and eighth grades. Advanced Institute of Mathematics and Sciences (AIMS)
Marian College hosts the AIMS program for students looking to get a head start in college, and more specifically for students looking to get a head start in their math and science curriculum.  AIMS is a four-week summer residential program for a maximum of forty-eight students entering grades 10th, 11th, and 12th.  Stipends will be paid for each level of math curriculum developed.  Also, AIMS is seeking secondary teachers to partake in the summer program.  For more information and the downloadable application for summer employment, please visit the website at www.marian.edu/AIMS.


Midwest Higher Education Compact
The Midwest Higher Education Compact is a program dedicated to improving access to postsecondary education opportunities.  The program functions by partnering with The Midwest Student Exchange Program (MSEP) and public  and private insitutions, to come up with a plan to help out-of-state students save money on tuition.  By taking advantage of this program, students can save anywhere from $500-$3,000 annually.  Check out this program to see how the MHEC can help you!
