Partnerships are central to the mission of the P-16 Center. The Center cultivates partnerships with high-need K-12 schools and their communities to improve the learning and success of their students. Through the partnership, schools and the Center design and implement collaborative plans for improving education, which are tailored to the schools’ needs and goals.
The Center's objective is to improve graduation and college-going rates and better prepare students for 21st century careers in Indiana. To meet this goal, the Center forms partnerships throughout the P-16 pipeline, from elementary schools to institutions of higher education.
Pathways partnerships focus on supporting schools that serve students with the highest need, those from low-income families, as well as African-American, Hispanic, and Limited English Proficient. (Read more about Pathways Partnerships) The Center currently has partnerships with:
Through the partnerships, the Center connects schools to the resources of Indiana University and the School of Education. Most of the partnerships include a professional development component, where IU faculty design programs to meet the learning objectives of the schools and teachers. To directly serve the students, the center arranges and provides information about mentoring, tutoring, campus visit, and scholarship opportunities. To facilitate partnerships and serve both the students and teachers, the Center procures material resources, such as new learning spaces and equipment, that open the doors to expanded partnership activities.
