Career Profiles and Exploration

Career profiles

In addition to the Indiana CIS, you can find other online sources of career information.  Below is a list of selected sites:

America's Career InfoNet: Career Resource Library
Although not Indiana-specific, Career InfoNet does have a great deal of information. The occupational profiles are arranged in broad categories. Click on a category to find relevant profiles.
Click on the breadcrumbs to further explore Career Infonet tools and information about career exploration, occupational certifications & licensing information, education & training finder, "employability checkup," an employer locator, a financial aid advisor and scholarship search, resume tutorial, and a version of O*Net's skills profiler.
Occupational Outlook Handbook
An A-Z index of occupations, the Occupational Outlook Handbook is put together by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. If you know the occupation you would like more information about, just click on the appropriate letter of the alphabet, and look for your occupation in the list that pops up.
O*NET
O*NET provides the career profile information used by the Indiana CIS. It's more difficult to access, and it is not integrated into complimentary information about education choices and financial aid.
O*NET also has a Browse by STEM Discipline tool, for those interested in careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math and related disciplines.
Princeton Career Search
The Princeton Review has a great deal of information about careers, college choice and exploration, how to choose a major, and more. It is a free site but requires a login for many functions.

Career exploration

Career Quiz (Schoolfinder.com)
The Career Quiz is an assessment tool that helps you narrow down the list of occupations that might be right for you.
ASVAB Career Exploration Program
This program is designed to help students learn more about themselves and the world of work, identify and explore potentially satisfying occupations, and develop an effective strategy to realize their goals.
