The Center was founded in 2006 to facilitate partnerships that lead to improvement in education from pre-kindergarten through postsecondary education (P–16). These strategic partnerships involve better understanding the current needs of schools and bringing together the groups within IU, schools, communities, and businesses that can address the complex challenge of improving education. The Center has five full-time faculty and staff whose expertise supports the school partners by facilitating research collaboration, multidisciplinary partnerships, professional development, communication, and Web resources.
The overarching goal of the Center is to improve high school graduation and college-going rates to better prepare students for the twenty-first century workforce. The Center has a special focus on enhancing mathematics, science, and technology education, which are foundational areas to college success. Through professional development for teachers, direct service to students, and technical assistance, the Center collaborates with our partner schools to create engaging learning environments for students that will open pathways to postsecondary education.
